If someone is in charge of a group but they haven't been active since 2017. Is there a way to adopt or take over the group?

Yes, send your request to site support (don't forget to include a link to the group in question) and once they do a check to make sure the original general is no longer active (and that there are no active mods, as one would automatically take over if the general is removed) they can reassign the group to you https://motherless.com/contact
