And yes, for such a claim, you can be expected to have less in-depth knowledge of the content than a professional in the field. If you were making a claim that requires exhaustive familiarity, as that one does, your statement is not credible by comparison, even without it being directly demonstrated false.
There is a significant difference between disagreement on a particular point for which a specific argument can be brought to bear on which you could be expected to have comparable knowledge with respect to that specific point, and statements that by their very nature hinge on breadth and depth of content knowledge across the field at hand.
