The way they make it so clear that they could cripple her in a single moment if they wanted to, the threats with the hammer and then the nailgun. Then they fill her mouth with needles and tape it up before slapping her. Have you ever tried to hold something in your mouth for more than two minutes or so without swallowing? It becomes incredibly difficult. Then they pull the tape off and she spits out a mouthful of metal spiked and blood. Just sublime.
